Archimedes

As the world changes with new technologies, the need to safeguard the social and solidarity economy is essential. In this sense, data-backed social impact assessment has emerged as a precondition for any well-informed investment/financing decision-making. To this end, the Archimedes architecture facilitates a large number of evaluation criteria, by index, by territory, on which a well-informed evaluation of the expected SROI (Social Return on Investment) of projects, actions and investments can be extrapolated. compared to the current net social value. Ultimately, Archimedes aims to contribute to mitigating deeply held beliefs about the importance of social value, and thus continue to promote social impact assessment as a precondition for any well-informed action or initiative by CSOs, donors and investors. Archimedes has already been tested in 10 projects carried out by public authorities to refine their political planning and by companies to evaluate their CSR actions.

KMOP has developed a training program for CSOs that provides information on using the tool, along with guidelines on how to leverage data-driven reporting for evidence-based advocacy. They have also expanded the Archimedes approach into a new impact assessment tool, the Reframing Welfare Index (RWI), which takes into account reference data from all regions of the European Union (NUTS 2), across a broad spectrum of areas of intervention, extrapolating data from 21 weighted indices and 168 respective criteria. Against this backdrop, the RWI informs policymakers and investors so they can navigate through the complex decision-making to achieve impactful interventions for fair, safe and green societies, and sustainable open economies.
